Training Opportunities for Adults

Training for Adult Leaders can be divided into three groups:
Basic Training- The first level. These courses are offered several times a year throughout the Golden Arrow District and the Sam Houston Area Council, including merit badge fairs and Summer Camp.
Advanced Training- includes training for Commissioners and higher level Leaders, as well as Woodbadge.
Supplemental Training- Additional courses such as First Aid, CPR, Risk Management and others. Also available at merit badge fairs, Summer Camp, and other times throughout the year.
Merit Badge fairs ; Many merit badge fairs also run Adult training as well. Courses include First Aid, CPR, Risk Management, Leave No Trace, Safety Afloat, Safe Swim Defense, Youth Protection, New Leader Essentials, Troop Committee Challenge and many others.See the Troop Advancement Chair for registration details.
Summer Camp - While Scouts are taking merit badge classes, Scouters can take many of the classes available at Merit Badge fairs.
University of Scouting - Usually held in February, University of Scouting is an all day, Council-wide event. Roundtable- Held every first Thursday of the month at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church campus. A good place for training and fellowship. This is hosted by the Golden Arrow District. See http://www.goldenarrow.org/training/roundtable-bs.html for more details
