To the Parent
This manual contains valuable information about Boy Scout
Troop 80. It is intended as an information source for potential,
new and current Scouts, leaders, and parents. As with all manuals
of this sort it will need to be updated when appropriate. Updates
will appear in the form of a letter from the Scoutmaster or Committee
Chair. If you have any questions concerning the information contained
in this manual please contact the Scoutmaster, an Assistant Scoutmaster,
the Troop Committee Chair, or any member of the Troop Committee.
Scouting is a rewarding adventure for both parents and boys. Scouts
learn skills that will last them a lifetime. Boys find out about
camping, nature, companionship, leadership, and becoming good
citizens. Parents will observe their sons mature and grow in skills
and confidence.
All this takes time and effort donated by the Scoutmasters, the
Troop Committee and other parents. You can help Troop 80 continue
to be a success, and help your son to be a successful Scout, by
donating some of your time and talents to the Troop. You will
not only get pleasure and satisfaction from this, but you will
also increase the benefits your sons as well as others get from
their Boy Scout experience. The operation of a Boy Scout Troop
is wholly dependent upon the services of parent volunteers.
Troop 80 was first chartered in 1964 and sponsored by St. Francis
de Sales Catholic Church. St. Francis also sponsors Cub Scout
Pack 80 for younger boys and Venturing 80 for older boys and girls.
The key to success of our Scout organizations is the willing
participation of volunteer adults, a supportive charter organization,
and a bunch of enthusiastic kids.
