Prohibited Items


The following items are prohibited at all Troop 80 functions. The prohibition applies to Adults Leaders as well as Scouts. A Scout who has one of these items in his possession will be subject to disciplinary action by the Scoutmaster. An Adult Leader who has one of these items in his possession will be subject to disciplinary action by the Troop Committee.

Alcoholic beverages
Illegal Drugs/Controlled Substances.
Firearms-including pellet / BB guns
Fireworks and Pyrotechnics
Liquid fuel
Hand axe
Cigarette lighters
Pornography
Tobacco products
Weapons
Electronic entertainment devices/Games
Any item deemed by the Scoutmaster (radios, TV, Tape player, CD player, Computers) as being inappropriate for Scouting or a danger to Scouts or others.
Video games and radio/CD players may be used during the transportation portion of an event at the driver's option. Once the Troop has arrived at the event the devices must remain in the vehicle.

Personal Food: Group meal planning, preparation and consumption are part of Scouting experience. No personal food will be allowed at Troop events. Personal food will be confiscated and be destroyed or returned after the event at the Scoutmaster's discretion. Special dietary needs should be taken into account during the planning process. Sack lunches and snacks consumed in transit are excluded from this prohibition.

Prescription Medicine: All prescription medicine must be given to the Scoutmaster or designated assistant to dispense. A Scout who is required to take prescription medicine during a Scout event must make the Scoutmaster and his Patrol Advisor aware of the requirement. The Scoutmaster is responsible for the safety of the Troop and therefore must be aware of the medical limitations of the Scouts as well as the effects of the medicine Scouts are prescribed. Prescription medicine should be carried in the container in which it was dispensed. A note written and signed by a parent must accompany the medicine. Medicine must be in zip-lock bag. No Scout will take any medication, including over the counter, without Scoutmaster permission. Asthma inhalers are the only exception.
Scouts and Adult Leaders who have been trained in First Aid are allowed to carry personal first aid kits that correspond to their level of training.
