Membership
Procedure:
Troop 80 is open to all boys from age 11 to 18. A
boy may also join when he is 10-1/2 if he has earned the Cub Scout
Arrow of Light Award or has completed the fifth grade.
At his first meeting the boy will receive a packet that
contains general information. When he decides to join Troop 80
and pays the required registration fees, he and his parents will
receive the following:
This Manual of Troop Policies and Procedures
A Boy Scout Application Form
A Medical History and Permission Form
A Troop 80 Equipment list, Calendar, and Roster
Parents' Interest Survey Form
The Application and Medical History must be filled out and signed
by a parent or guardian. The Class 1 Personal Health History on
the back of The Boy Scout Application will suffice as a temporary
medical form and will allow a Scout to participate in weekend
campouts and local Troop activities. Each Scout must have a Class
2 medical form completed by his doctor prior to attending any
District or Council events. This completed physical form is good
for three years. Other physicals may be required depending upon
the type and length of the event; a Class 3 medical form is required
for high adventure trips.
Once a Scout has decided to join Troop 80 he is responsible for
obtaining his own uniform and a Boy Scout Handbook..
This Boy Scout Handbook should last for his entire
Scouting career so he should put his name on it in several places
and take good care of it. All Scouts who have not reached the
rank of First Class are required to have their handbooks with
them at all meetings and camping trips. Scouts who have reached
First Class rank should carry the Boy Scout Field Book at all
meetings and camping trips.
New Scouts should bring the completed membership forms and the
necessary fees to the next Troop meeting. A new Scout will be
assigned to a patrol compatible with his age and abilities.
Adult Leaders Joining Troop 80: Adults joining Troop
80 as leaders must complete the Adult Leader Application. This
application must be signed by the Scoutmaster, Troop Committee
Chair, and the Chartered Organization Representative.
Registered adults must have a Class 2 medical form
completed by a doctor in order to participate in camping activities.
NOTE: Adults over 40 years of age must have a physical
annually and complete a Class 3 medical form.
All parents are considered members of the Troop Committee. Adults
who hold positions on the Troop Committee, however, must be registered
through Troop 80 with the Council. Normally, adults who register
will be registered as a Committee Member.
Adults who wish to register as Assistant Scoutmasters must be
approved by the Troop Committee (or its designee) and the Scoutmaster.
Assistant Scoutmasters must complete Basic Adult Leader Training.
