Troop 80 Committee Meeting
September 14, 2004 - 7:30PM

Committee Chair - Mr. Wooten :
Mr. Wooten is retiring.
Amendment on prior month's minute for adult membership fee from $33 to $15.
Charter Organization Representative - Mr. Bailey:
Nominated Mr. Eric Johnson to be the next Committee Chair , Mr. Martin seconded and everyone unanimously approved of Mr. Johnson.
Everyone need to remember and follow the chain of command as follows:

Scouts
Scouting is a boy led operation and nothing in between (no intermediaries). Boys learn by doing, they can fail but they learn. Parents - just responsible to get your boys to attend the meeting.
Treasurer - Mr. Howard:
Presented Financial Report - have an estimated net loss of $1,200.
T-shirt sale loss of $483 - has not received the revenue from the sale.
Philmont Trip losses of $900 - due to no show sign up.
To date as of 09/12/04 made a little over $67.

Advancement Chair - Mrs. Wooten:
Scouts are doing a good job of calling for rank advancement.
A lot of good advancement.
Mr. Sulzbach:
Suggested to attend a Collectors Firearms show for the troop before the shotgun camp out.
Mr. Velazquez:
Cycling - need to have bike check before camp out day. Final day to check is 09/22/04.
Merit Badge Books Library - need to update or replace obsolete and missing books:
Suggestions:
Mr. Bailey - if the book is not available and the boys want to earn a merit badge; they can buy it, if they buy it.
Mr. Johnson - books needed to be updated even 1 book of each, that's the reason we have a Librarian.
Mr. Barrett - Mr. Velazquez need to make a request of what input is needed from the parents. Mr. Velazquez will email everyone.
Mr. Martin - need to work with the librarian and advisor to properly set up the books.
Mr. Shannon will talk to current Librarian, Margaret Mitchell; if still want to continue.
Mr. Velazquez needs to let the advisor know that the leaders are doing their job and hold accountable.
Pass the word for Wood Badge. October is already full but still need some in case somebody back out.
Transportation Coordinator - Mr. Stephenson:
Trailer registration is expired - need to update registration. - Mr. Shannon will take care of title.
Mr. Wennermark - will take care of spare tire.
New Patrol Advisor - Mr. Martin:
Need Hunter P. pictures for Camporee - Eagle Scout presentation.
Fund Raising:
Mr. Wooten - Pop Corn Kernelettes - Susan Krus, Yvette Villalon and Sherry Hu.
Mr. Martin - Patrol Leaders and the patrol will have to vote on the following fund raising:
Mrs. Wooten - Tasty Pizza - we will get all the ingredients and the boys' wil1 put out all the pizza together. The company will show how to make the pizza.
Dr. Villalon - Flag subscription (will further research) - boys will sell in the neighborhood.
Mr. Stephenson - Car Wash - no cost. All boys need to volunteer, will do 2 or 4 times a year - church already approved.
Mr. Martin - need to sell Donut machine if we are not going to sell donut.
Mr. Velazquez - ConocoPhilips - can donate $1,500 as long as there is a specific purpose/project, e.g. Flag.
Mr. Martin nominated Mr. Barrett as Fund Raising Advisor , everyone seconded and approved. Mr. Barrett agreed to volunteer as Fund Raising Advisor.
Training Coordinator - Mr. Eric Johnson:
Name for Cabritos "Kids" need to change name and form a patrol.
Concern about camp out name "War Games". Mr. Bailey agreed because Troop 80 is associated with church. Mr. Richard suggested letting the boys rename the "War Games".
Mr. Barrett - suggested having Plan B for last change minute. Need to talk with PLC.
Friends of Scouting Chair - Mrs. Jordan:
Pledge received 66% below from last year goal.
Need some input - suggestions:
Mrs. Richard - send "Thank You" note for those whose made a commitment or ask if you know somebody who wants to participate.
Mr. Barrett - personally contact/call those who have not participated.
Mrs. Johnson - send emails, some parents may not be aware of "Friends of Scouting".
Mr. Stephenson motioned to adjourn the meeting at 9.25 p.m. Mr. Barrett seconded.
