Troop 80 Committee Meeting

August 9, 2004 - 7:30PM

Attendees:

Sherman Wooten, Diane Wooten, Kyle Shannon, Ken Martin, Eric Johnson, Teresa Jordan, Ben Villalon, Yvette Villalon, Boroskie Rashard, Sherry Siy.

Advancement: Mrs. Diane Wooten

•  October Merit Badge Fair - requirements need to read carefully, e.g. Eagle Scout Merit Badge - most require at least be on 7 th grade.

•  Partials from Summer Camp - need to complete maybe this Saturday as a camp.

•  Board of Review - young boy has suggested writing down information on spiral to make sure they will not forget. Diane will buy spiral and let the boys reimburse her.

•  Parent File Box - alphabetically arranged; for communication and information to parents, only parents can have access to the file box and Scouts can not pick up mail for their parents. Parents' involvement means Boy Scout success.

•  PLC Meeting - Scout Leaders need to speak up and not the parents or adults - to train kids leadership skills.

Scoutmaster: Mr. Kyle Shannon

•  Bowling Party, Adventure Bay, Pool Party and Lock in - Everyone had FUN! FUN! FUN! And had a GREAT TIME!

•  PLC Meeting: 08/14/2004, 9:00AM - 12:00PM - Planning and preparation.

•  Scouting for Food 08/14/2004 2:00PM.

•  Tubing Camp Out: 08/27/04 - 08/29/04, New Braunfels, TX.

Wood Badge: Mr. Luis Velasquez

•  Wood Badge - teaches leadership and communication skills.

•  New Wood Badge signed up: Teresa Jordan, Ben Villalon, Yvette Villalon and Sherry Hu.

•  Would like to discuss Wood Badge beading on 08/24/04.

New Patrol Advisor : Mr. Ken Martin

•  Suggested to paint "Wood Rank Advancement" to make them more prominent -everyone seconded.

Committee Member : Yvette Villalon

•  Will provide schools calendar (HISD, FBISD, Alief ISD, SFDS, St. Agnes, St. Thomas and Strake) for PLC Planning
